Boise Rodent Shield is a month-to-month protection program built for property managers and landlords in the Treasure Valley. We inspect your properties on a schedule, seal the entry points we find, and document everything — so every property you manage carries a compliance file that proves you were on top of the problem. Three protections, one program:
Boise's rodent ordinance makes owners liable for the structural conditions that shelter rodents — and the city can abate the problem and bill the owner for it. Enforcement begins December 1, 2026. The facts
Rat sightings in Boise are publicly mapped, and complaints and enforcement actions are public. An address can become the one that comes up when someone searches. Your file is the documented proof of diligence. What's in the file
Trapping removes the animals you have. Sealing keeps the next ones out — steel vent covers, mesh, and sealed entry points, done as found on every scheduled visit. How the program works
Your properties go on a documented inspection schedule. Visits are batched by area on our run days, which keeps the per-door cost down. At each visit we inspect for entry points, harborage, and food sources; seal what we find; and add dated records and photos to that property's compliance file. Pricing is per door, quoted for your properties — door count and the first run set the number — and the program is month-to-month. Pause it or cancel it; the file we've built is yours either way. The program in detail.
Boise Rodent Shield is owned by an Idaho landlord who spent four years as a Planning & Zoning Administrator — writing county ordinances himself. He has sat on the government's side of the counter, and he has been the owner a city letter lands on. In his words: "This isn't just making money from rats. It's protecting people from the government." The full story
Is there a contract? No. The program is month-to-month. You can pause or cancel; properties already documented keep their files.
What does it cost? Pricing is per door and by quote — it depends on how many doors you have and what the first run finds. Tell us your door count and we'll price it.
We already have a pest company. Most do. Pest control handles removal and treatment; it doesn't seal entry points or build a compliance record. This program covers the structural and documentation side the ordinance actually assigns to owners. For active infestations, our sister service Treasure Valley Rat Control handles removal.
When should we start? November 2026 is the city's education month and enforcement begins December 1, 2026. Properties documented before enforcement starts are in the strongest position. Why now.
